I always claim to love the winter but with day after day of greyness you can’t beat a bit of sun! Especially when you’re driving around in it all day.

Dreaming of spring!

If the snow held back progress on lessons, it certainly didn’t on our website work.

The most notable change will be the colour – a bold jump from red / burgundy, to a more vibrant, exciting orange.

We regularly tweet industry news, driving news, car stuff and interesting facts so it’s for everyone, not just if you’re learning.

And there’s PLENTY more to come.

On the top menu we have a couple of new headings, ‘driving lessons’ and ‘tutorials’. You will also notice if you hover the arrow over some of the titles a new drop-down menu will appear. Under ‘driving lessons’ will be, as you would guess, the lessons we offer. Tutorials will house a step by step guide to everything you will learn and need to learn in each and every driving lesson. The manoeuvre pages will appear here too. We’ve had a slight delay on the manoeuvre pages as its been too wet to take the photographs!! There are just two tutortials at the moment, but keep checking as these will grow each week.

We’re excited with how our website is progressing and hope you find it a useful and helpful tool.

With each order we will send out an attractive and full colour voucher with all the details you need. A lovely gift to be opened at Christmas and New Year – or even for yourself!

Lessons from this offer can start to be taken from the new year.

You may notice another slight subtle change to the website. With more and more essential learning information being added it was starting to look a little cluttered so we’ve made changes to combat that, and I think it looks very smart indeed. New helpful information and learning aids will continue to be added thick and fast so keep checking.

If you are living in the Woking and Guildford areas you may well have a leaflet from us through your door in the next month or so as we continue our marketing efforts in different areas.

We have also added a sizable list of area pages, all within the main area of Woking – I’ll add that list at the end of this post.

All these improvements take time and are continually ongoing. It’s amazing when I think how far our website has come since it was launched in 2010, looking quite basic indeed. Yet I’m happy to say we haven’t even got close to where we’re headed.

I’ll update you as always on our progress and new pages added so you don’t miss a thing. Our new PayPal page is proving quite a success, and now these payment options have been added to each individual area page too. Our eventual aim is to only accept payments in advance, online, as it’s our opinion it’s becoming outdated for our instructors to be carrying large amount of cash during the day.

We’re excited about this here as we’ve been looking forward to starting this process for a while. We want our website to be a ‘learning resource’ to help all learning with us – and others are of course welcome too.

We’re looking to add a ‘manoeuvres’ section, along with a highway code help section and a Theory Test facilitly that will negate the need for you to buy any other theory materials. It will be all here for you in one place.

We will also be adding a ‘Lesson Plans’ section which will aid you whilst you learn. So for example, after your first lesson (and every lesson after that), you will be able to recap what you covered in your lesson, online, to accelerate your learning. It will also be a useful reminder of what you covered before your next lesson.

Work starts on this now, and although a gradual process, should be well on its way shortly. We hope though to have the Theory Package available within a week or two.

We’ve added a new page to the website this week, detailing the idea behind the 6 Point Mirror Check just before moving off from a parked position. Examiners look out for good observations on the test and a good 6 point check is amongst those required.

This page is just one of many helpful resources due to be added to the site this coming Autumn and Winter. Already one of the / if not already THE most useful driving school website around, we’re carrying out our plans to make our website a learning resource as well as an advertisement for our excellent school and services.

It’s another damp, fresh morning here. This July feels rather strange and disorientating with all the rain we’re having. Is it really mid-July? I must be one of few people who are really enjoying it though. I love the rain. Hot sunny days in the car arent always fun as you can probably imagine so it suits me perfectly, and I find the rain peaceful and refreshing. I must admit I’m looking forward to my holiday in the sun with the family though in a couple of months time!

News this week in the driving world is the possible changes to some rural speed limits. Country lanes are the most dangerous roads in the UK, with most set at National Speed limit (60mph for single carriageway roads) and yet most being wholey inapropriate at this speed. It’s been suggested local councils should look at their own individual country roads and change limits to 40mph where roads are particularly winding and / narrow. A great idea and well needed. This may not slow everyone down, and the decent amongst us probably already drive at the appropriate speed for these roads, but it may just slow some of the rest down just a little, even by 10mph would be a start.
